Role Context: ACCR aims to have a huge impact on the world and our supporters are integral to this impact. This new senior position will oversee the entire experience of ACCR’s key supporters as they partner with us in our work. Our impact is inherently motivating for many of our supporters, but the core of this role is to make it easy and empowering for people to support us, and to encourage others to do so. Whether it is donors, collaborating shareholders, financial advisors whose clients support us, or ACCR members, this person will make it their mission to turn our stakeholders into enthusiasts and ambassadors for our vision.

The role will be responsible for growing engagement and deepening relationships with donors, and developing new strategic partnerships to support ACCR’s research and shareholder advocacy as we continue to grow. They will establish processes to ensure smooth and highly professional dealings with all potential supporters, harnessing the connections of our existing supporters, the expertise of our team and the power of technology to engage our communities at scale for the greatest impact. This role will also manage staff who build and nurture our shareholder community and file shareholder resolutions.

Background: ACCR challenges companies to respond to the most important issues of our time, like climate change and human rights, and in how they treat all of their stakeholders, including workers and First Nations communities. We were founded as a non-profit organisation in 2012, and since that time we have promoted ethical investment and assisted investors through education, research, collaboration, engagement and advocacy. Thanks to a heightened awareness of the importance of our work, and the urgency of the issues - like climate change - that we work on, we are growing rapidly. More information about our latest work can be found in our FY21 Annual Review: https://www.accr.org.au/2020-2021/.

What we offer: ACCR has a dynamic team of over 25 driven and experienced staff, mostly based in Australia. We value peer learning and each of us has a professional development budget. We enjoy flexible work hours and supportive home-based working for those who want it. Personal leave is double the statutory requirement, plus extra leave from Christmas to New Year. Our Employee Assistance Program also includes our employees’ households. Due to our high levels of staff satisfaction and engagement, ACCR won one of Voice Project’s Best Workplace Awards for 2021.

This role will be for an initial one year contract, starting ASAP, with the aim that the role will become permanent after that.

Manages: Shareholder Community Manager and Supporter Campaigns Manager

Key Relationships: workstream Directors, Digital & Marketing Lead

Responsibilities

The role will include the following types of tasks:

  • Build and oversee the engagement of ACCR’s key supporter communities in our work, for example, donors, shareholders, financial advisors, ACCR members

  • Be the point of contact for high value supporters and the gateway partners to those individuals e.g. financial advisers, and host events and organise communications to engage with them
  • Plan mutually reinforcing communications to different supporter audiences, in cooperation with ACCR’s Digital & Marketing Lead (who is responsible for our visual brand, website and social media)
  • Ensure ACCR’s shareholder community is active and of sufficient scale to partner with us in our advocacy efforts, e.g. filing shareholder resolutions, overseeing staff with responsibility for shareholder communications and management
